Technology in Football

Had some great emails about the CHEATING IN FOOTBALL post I made earlier this week.
Cant mention everyone but...

Thanks to Dean Foster. He got it dead right in my opinion saying that ex players not saying anything was wrong and really annoyed him.

I agree, they just seem to say 'Its all part of the game'.

I just want to see some great football and not games being decided or being remembered by some cheating that video would have stopped. When I saw the penalty for Italy in playback I dont think any ref would have given it.

Why is technology so bad?

We should have technology now to tell whether a ball has crossed the line. The argument that football has to be the same for everybody is complete crap. I play during the week friendly games and we don’t play offside because we have no officials. Its still a game of football.

Hoping for a great game this afternoon between Germany and Argentina and talk about some great football for a change.

Cheating at Football

Shocked to see Henry go down last night covering his face.
Trying to get the defender sent off. After seeing the Italian
dive in the penalty area the other day I now ask myself.

Is the beautiful game becoming a game where
only cheats win?

It seems that all players will cheat if it can further their team.
The only sportmanship you see is when a player is 'injured' and the ball
is kicked out of play.

Cant wait to see if he will now front some 'Fair Play' Fifa scheme.

People blame the ref but let the players get away with it saying
'Its all part of the game'

At least Zidane showed how to play the game last night.

Latest WWC News

Just a quick update on posts I've added or changed.

Ok I've updated the premiersip club websites page. This has now all the promoted clubs sites and the relegated ones on it and is ready for the 2006/2007 season.

I have also added a few more Footie News posts with the latest Sky football headlines, Sky premiership Headlines and BBC football headlines posts, which use RSS to display all their latest stories.

They also have a link on the post to take you straight to that website area.

The world cup news works the same way.

Remember you can check all the world cup scores by looking at the BBC panel, they keep them updated.

Dont forget when the new 2006/2007 season starts I'll be posting the assists, man of the match and transfer passwords here every week, plus all the useful links.

There is a new cricket stuff section. I also post the cricket password every Thursday and now got a new post to show all the latest cricket scores via RSS.

I dont get paid for doing it, so support this blog by telling your mates.

COME ON ENGLAND!

thanks

Rant from Sweden Game

OK before we all start to panic and forget that we finished top of the group and therefore miss the Germans but take on Ecuador. I think all english fans would have taken 7 points at the start of the world cup.

However I need to get a few things of my chest from last nights game.

And I wonder if someone can answer a few questions for me.

1) Why did Sven not bring on Theo when Owen went off injured?

It now looks like owen will miss the rest of the world cup and I thought it would be a perfect time to bring on the lad and show what he can do. Or has the coach realised that he has made a big mistake taking him and knows he cant make it at international level. He risked Crouch (1 yellow card already) and I think that showed he has no faith in Theo.

2) Why was the defence so poor dealing with set plays?

This was one of our great strengths but last night the ball was allowed to bounce and no one seemed to know who they were marking. Ferdinand is looking 50/50 now for Sunday so Campbell and terry will have to work together.

3) Will sven ever sub Beckham?

Beckham played really well in the previous 2 games but if we need to win the game will he take him of for lennon. Maybe its just me but I think sven will just never sub his Captain.

4) Will lampard ever play a good game this world cup?

Hopefully Sunday will see a better performance, yesterday Ecuador rested 5 of their players so I expect it to be a much harder game than the Germans found yesterday

COME ON ENGLAND!

Keepy Uppy World cup

This game couldn't be simpler. Keep the football up in the air for as long as possible, the longer it stays up the higher the score and the higher the score the more chance of winning their weekly prize!

To keep budding Beckhams on their toes, the Screwfix Keepy Uppy World cup is spread over six weeks with a new level being unlocked each week, each a little harder than before.
Players can re-visit previous levels to hone their ball skills and increase their chance of winning some World Cup worthy prizes!

So go ahead and take up the challenge!

World Cup MOTM 15th June 2006

Here are the Man of the Match awards from yesterdays game for the telegraph fantasy football competition

Ecuador V Costa Rico - Edison Mendea (Equador)
England V T&T - John Terry (England)
Sweden V Paraguay - freddie Lyungberg (sweden)

Well done to England last night, better late than never. Terrible first half and the miss from crouch was so bad it was worse than watching him dance. Lampard missed loads and Owen was no where to be seen most of the time. John Terry was a god in defence and Beckham is still the best crosser in the world. Rooney is back but still no sign of Theo.

Hot of the press

Rooney is 'match fit' for England

Sven-Goran Eriksson has revealed striker Wayne Rooney is "match fit" ahead of Thursday's World Cup match against Trinidad and Tobago.

Eriksson said Rooney will not start the match, but had yet to decide whether he will play some part.

Meanwhile, Gary Neville looks set to be ruled out of the game. I better get him out of my side

Eriksson said the full-back was highly doubtful after pulling out of a training session with a calf strain.

The BBC site has a great link to print out your own players mask be it Peter Crouch or Steven Gerrard. So you can look the part when you do the Crouch robot dance, or smash shots into the net from 40 yards like Gerrard.

You can also be Ronaldinho, Wayne Rooney, Thierry Henry, Ruud van Nistelrooy, David Beckham or England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.

How To Explode Blog Traffic

LAST UPDATED : 27th June 2006

I’ve had a few emails from people who use my blog for stuff and asked for my advice on how to get more traffic on their blogs. Its something I’ve looked in to make my blog grow and grow so here goes.

Rule 1. Write an article on "how to explode blog traffic"
Rule 2. Really do rule 1!
Rule 3. Read on for other tips.

To be very frank there are quite a bit of so called tried and tested ways to increase you blog traffic, but these merely focus on increasing hits on your blog, but do not focus on the main reason why you want more traffic. That is you want People to read what you write and keep coming back for more. I focus on Fantasy football cause I really like it, You have to like if not love what you blog about. Blog every week people and you have a chance!

Some Blog Site directories do deliver on their hits, but sadly most of these hits stay for a maximum of 60 secs only, after which they click on the next blog to increase their traffic.

So what have I learnt and what can you do.
Well, here are some tips for starters.

1. Write. Write stuff. Write stuff people like to read. Most often blogs end up being abused by people who think the world is waiting to know what happens to them every second (great for them but not maybe for us!), however the same thing can be presented in a way that forces the reader to continue reading. Simple check! read as though you didn't write it. Funny? worth posting? go ahead post. Remember you want people to read your stuff so when I write a post about how I’m doing in the league. I want it at least to make me smile.

2. Make friends.I don't mean going around shaking hands with people and expect a sudden spurt in your traffic, instead post reciprocal links on your blog. Yes people do read others links and if you are there, people will visit your blog. Its an easy way to piggyback on some good blogs.

3. Articles! Take some of your posts, tweak them a bit, add a caption and Presto! you have your own article ready. Now take that article and post it all around you on the net. There are quite a list of websites that do this.

4. Check your Site title and description. Get a cool title something that makes people go, "WOW" or more probably "i think this might be interesting"). And remember to give a matching description (the funnier the better). This will also help you get better results on search engines. Give the people who are looking at your site what they want.

5. Submit to Blog Search engines. Most people search for blogs not on the major search engines, but on blog search engines. So make sure your blog has been submitted to these engines. The more the merrier. Search on google for blog search engines and submit your blog to all of these. Wiki holds a list too.

6. Post photos or pictures! Face it, most people do search blogs to see something interesting and what best but a photo to give them a 24million color view of something. They do bring in traffic. It can give a coolness to your site. I posted Crouchy in a few comic poses and it brought in more traffic. Most blogging providers support photoblogging.

7. Get original ! Showing others content may bring people to your site, but it would not make them stay. So keep the blog original with what you would like to say. Remember its easy to blog if you love it.

8. Publicise it! Think up creative ways. Get a bumper sticker on your car, your boss's car, your company delivery van. Another easier option, get it on your company's email signature or atleast on yours. Blogger tell you this.

9. Voice your opinion! Write stuff that would make people go on and talk about you without you threatening them or paying them. And refer to "the blog" in common discussions,..

10. Check out my blog, when Wednesday comes – Fantasy Football. Its getting more and more hits every day. I’m always looking to improve it, not just for me but for all the people I get now.

Hope this helps

J
