Just Like All The Rest!

Well there I am thinking because my team Burnley is in the Championship I'm bound to do better then players who support a premiership team.

I mean I've got no loyalty to any of these clubs you pick your players from, so I'll be independent, right?

Well its not the case, Bellamy who played brilliantly during the week in the league cup for Blackburn. Has already scored 2 goals against Chelsea. I never thought about picking him. I'm only looking at bigname strikers.

Also Wigan have already recorded their straight 7th win and kept another clean sheet. But like most people I didn't expect them to do so well.

No Matter who you support in my league, all the teams seem to have mainly premiership star players. No one is really looking at form and picking the cheap players. If you look at the stats the striker with the second best record in matches played and goals scored is Yakubu for Boro. Just because Boro have lost a few games people don't look at him.

Maybe I need to start looking at lower priced defenders instead of the expensive Chelsea ones? Bolton and Wigan ones are starting to look pretty good.

A Tale of Two Strikers

Typical! I put Henry back in my side and the news I've just heard isn’t great.

He’s only 30% fit for tomorrow's derby against Spurs. It seems he was rushed back into the side and still has a groin injury.

I’ve got no choice but to keep him in my team. Like I said earlier, I’ve used up 11 subs and its not even November yet! I’ll have to keep my fingers crossed and hope he is included in the squad.

Good News for people with Michael Owen in their team. He has been included in their squad against West brom.

Next week I’m going to see if the others in the top three want to add their comments on the league at work.

I will give a rundown on all the links I’ve included next week.

I'm going to try and improve this blog everyweek. So if you want anything included why not post a comment.

Gaining on the leaders!

I’m still in third place but gaining on the leaders.

The top three are as follows:

Outsource IT Direct - 30 points - total=448.
The all england hula-hoop team
- 22 points - total= 431.
Myself (The daddy long leg clarets) 37 points - total= 426.

Behind us are another 30 teams and one of those is the man who
Won it last year, so need to keep an eye on him.

With my 3 substitutions my team looks like this at £49.8

P Cech CHE 4.0
A del Horno CHE 4.2
C Perry CHA 2.9
K Toure ARS 4.1
M Dawson TOT 2.6
F Lampard CHE 5.0
Park Ji-Sung MUN 3.6
M Essien CHE 3.9
D Murphy CHA 3.5
T Henry ARS 9.0
D Drogba CHE 7.0

The total number of subs I’ve used is 11 out of a maximum 30. Last yeat I ran
out of subs at the last part of the season. I dont want to make the same mistake this time!

The Weekly Plan

A few words about how I’m going to try and fit in the writing of this blog.

I’m going to try and write some regular weekly posts and so get into a routine. So I think I will break it up into the following and always do at least 5 a week.

Monday – What happened over the weekend?

Tuesday – Various reports such as Player Spotlight (This week African nation players) .

Wednesday – Report on my teams results and any places gained.

Thursday – Look at the games ahead at the weekend.

Friday – Spotlight on injured players, good alternatives and any substitutions I’m making before the weekend.

We will see how this goes. Starting this week.

Stale Mate

Sub Stale Mate

The worse thing about subbing players in FF is that dreadful feeling that the one you put in will get sent off and the one you take out will score a hat trick and be made man of the match.

Luckily for me Henry looks to have got an assist, Ronaldo missed an easy header and Stalteria got booked where as Dawson my new defender didn’t.

My main hopes are for Chelsea to do ok against Everton. As I need the clean sheet points.

Here’s hoping that Drogba plays and not Crespo as I cant afford to do another sub.

Substitution Time

Substitution time

Henry’s performance mid week has made me think the king is back and that can only mean one thing.

I NEED HIM BACK IN MY SIDE.

He might be the one player, the others do not have, that will let me claw some points back. Everyone took him out of their sides about 6 weeks ago when he got injured and they might wait a week to see how he performs against Man City.

I know some people are thinking that because of the rumours of him wanting to leave Arsenal or that now he has the goal’s record he may not be as motivated, but I believe he will want to get 200 goals so his record will never be broken.

Of course putting Henry back into a side is not that easy when he costs 9 million and you are 0.8 short. So I am going to replace Stalteria (Spurs), one of the best cheap defenders, with Dawson (Spurs) an even cheaper defender.

The other sub will be change Ronaldo (Man U) being replaced with Park (Man U). After the news reports about Ronaldo I cant see him playing well again in the near future.

In The Beginning

A little bit late but finally here!

The English football season has been going for a couple of months now and I have finally got my finger out to create this Blog detailing my attempt to beat everyone at work and in the country in the telegraph fantasy football game.

I’m going to be concentrating on my work team, which is called MY WORK TEAM. Mainly as there are only about 30 members in that one, where as in the proper league there are over 200000!

At the moment I’m in 3rd place and hoping to stay near the top until the Xmas period and then take the top spot.

This is my team at present :

101 P Cech CHE 4.0
209 A del Horno CHE 4.2
292 C Perry CHA 2.9
211 K Toure ARS 4.1
302 P Stalteri TOT 2.9
401 F Lampard CHE 5.0

408 C Ronaldo MUN 4.1
555 M Essien CHE 3.9
431 D Murphy CHA 3.5
602 R van Nistelrooy MUN 8.0
605 D Drogba CHE 7.0
--------------------------------------

Total Cost (Max £50M) 49.6

I will update the log whenever I make substitutions and my reasoning behind them.

Because Fantasy Football seems to have attracted a huge following I have also included a few links that will help any other player. They will point to a good injury listing page, good football news sites and even the main telegraph site.

That’s what I love about fantasy football. Even though everyone’s teams are up against each other, one of the best things about it is swapping knowledge about new players or just general football chat. Just like whose in form (Murphy) or who shouldn’t bother playing (Ronaldo).

Hope you like the Blog.
