Big John Enters The Fight!

John Kirkland moves into the top 5 with this week’s top score of 58.

Dave Knowles with ‘1977,1978,1981,1984 & 2005 Thank you’ moves into second.

I’m down to third but with Drogba or A Del Horno not playing at the weekend I’m not surprised.

Sunny however has dropped out of the top 5, let’s hope his Xmas presents involve a few more Points!

Last years winner Mark Parrish was still over 70 points behind so with the FA Cup coming up soon that’s when the big point scores start to come. I expect to see a lot of changes over the Xmas period.

The top 5 looks like this

1) Outsource IT Direct (41 this week) Total = 580
2) 1977,1978,1981,1984 & 2005 Thank you (51 this week) Total = 551
3) The Daddy Long Leg Clarets (40 this week) Total = 548
4) The All England Hula-hoop (43 this week) Total = 546
5) Broxy blues (58 this week) Total = 544

I'll look at all the best players tomorrow.

George Best Dies – 25 November 2005

A sad day for all football fans As George Best passed away today.

Best was discovered when he was 15 by a scout who telephoned Manchester United manager Sir Matt Busby with the message - "I think I've found a genius".

He was 17 when he made his First Division debut for United against West Bromwich Albion in September 1963.

Two years later, he helped United win their first championship for eight years - and it was followed by another in 1967.

A year later, Best helped United become the first English team to win the European Cup.
He walked out of top class football in 1972 aged just 26.

Here are some great George best quotes :

"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars - the rest I just squandered"

"I used to go missing a lot...Miss Canada, Miss United Kingdom, Miss World."

But maybe we should all just remember what Pele said in 1982 when asked who was the greatest:

"George Best was the greatest player in the world"

Honeymoon Ends Shocker!

Sunny’s honeymoon period is over as he drops from third to fifth.

It’s a good job I decided to show the top 5 so at least he still gets a mention.

Henry got 2 goals at the weekend and man of the match. However, Jason Lee has now got him in his team so I only reduced his lead by 2 points.

I’ve now moved up to second place.

1) Outsource IT Direct (36 this week) Total = 539
2) The Daddy Long Leg Clarets (38 this week) Total = 508
3) The All England Hula-hoop (26 this week) Total = 503
4) 1977,1978,1981,1984 & 2005 Thank you (33 this week) Total = 500
5) Mistry’s Confused X1 (18 this week) Total = 489

I'll look at all the best players tomorrow.

There is a lot of talk on football shows about the African nations cup and the players that will miss out check out the link to find if your players will be involved. They may be out for up to 5 weeks!

Foggy Weather

I decided to make a couple of changes yesterday. Perry of Charlton has not exactly set my team on fire and with his team mate Murphy I thought it was time to replace them with the in form Bolton players.

So it was good bye to

C Perry CHA 2.9
D Murphy CHA 3.5

And hello to

T Ben Haim BOL 3.1
K Nolan BOL 3.4

I thought I would gain a few extra points on the leaders with this move, but the Premiership game between Birmingham and Bolton was postponed due to heavy fog around St Andrews.

With bad weather predicted for the weekend I wont be making any more substitutions.

Something for the Weekend!

Well the Premiership returns after England’s brilliant 3-2 victory over Argentina and it’s time to Mention a few news items about the players this weekend, you probably know all this but its better being safe than sorry!

Drogba is suspended for the Chelsea clash against Newcastle. Maybe if it was for 3 games it would be worth subbing him out, but with him missing only one match and I know he’s out in January for the African nations cup then I think I’ll wait until then. Problems for Newcastle with defender Steven Taylor. He could be out of action from between eight to 10 weeks with a shoulder injury.

Also Arsenal left-back Gael Clichy is likely to be out for three to four months with a fractured foot. A few people might have him in their teams so it would be best to get him out ASAP.

Gary Neville made his return for Manchester United last night. Playing in a reserve game against West Brom. He may even be on the bench against Charlton tomorrow. G Neville was a great defender last year, lots of points and you know he will play every game if fit. Also at £3.9 cheaper than a few other ‘first on the team sheet’ defenders. I might put him in.

Also it still seems that Ruud van Nistelrooy may be touch and go for Saturday.

There is a lot of comment about whether Ledley King will play; he might have a knee problem so if you have him in your team he may be rested.

SHOCK! Sunny Mistry moves into 3rd place and I have moved down one place into 4th

So, as I need to see my team in print I am displaying the top 5 from now on!

Luckily Henry got 2 goals at the weekend or else I would really be in trouble.

Special mention to Jason Lee’s two Bolton substitutions that keep Outsource IT Direct at the top. I took 2 points of Andy Clarkes All England team but all eyes turn to the Mysterious Mistry he may be one to watch and if that’s the case, we will not hear the last of it!

1) Outsource IT Direct (24 this week) Total = 503
2) The All England Hula-hoop (12 this week) Total = 477
3) Mistry’s Confused X1 (30 this week) Total = 471
4) The Daddy Long Leg Clarets (14 this week) Total = 470
5) 1977,1978,1981,1984 & 2005 Thank you (31 this week) Total = 467

Football fans Should Remember Remember

There are matches over the weekend 5th Nov to the 7th Nov then there is a break due to internationals.

The Premiership starts again on the 19th Nov.

So don’t do any subs just after the 7th. You should wait until the 18th as your players might get injured and you will be throwing away substitutions. Trust me come the end of the season you may need everyone.

Everyone has noticed the sudden lack of clean sheets by Chelsea defenders. It does seem that the once unbeatable defence has started to leak goals, they have only kept 1 clean sheet in their last 7 matches.

When you compare this to them only conceding 1 goal in their first 9 games of the season, you may think its time to check out less expensive and more inform defenders.

However with most if not all football fans believing that Chelsea will win the title, then it does make sense to keep at least one or two in your side no matter what’s their current form is.

Maybe I’ll change my mind after they play Man U on Sunday!
