Cheap Italian Anyone?
With the premiership clubs now looking at some relegated Italian club players.
Here's a list of the available stars:
GOALKEEPERS
Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus)
Age: 28, Price: £13m
Underlined his position as the world's best keeper at the World Cup by conceding just once in six games. Became the world's most expensive goalkeeper when Juve paid Parma £33m for his services in 2001
Possible destinations: Arsenal, Inter Milan, Real Madrid
Others:
Dida (32) AC Milan and Brazil
Angelo Peruzzi (36) Lazio and Italy
DEFENDERS
Alessandro Nesta (AC Milan)
Age: 30, Price: £12m
Italy's number 13 has been unlucky to miss out on the latter stages of the finals after picking up an injury against the Czech Republic. When fit he is a fixture of the Italian backline and one of the toughest defenders in world football.
Possible destination: AC Milan have issued a statement that pledges none of their star players will be leaving. Chelsea will monitor the situation.
Fabio Cannavaro (Juventus)
Age: 32, Price: ?
Was the outstanding defender at the World Cup and, even at 32, there will be no shortage of takers if he is put on the market.
Possible destinations: Real Madrid, Chelsea
Gianluca Zambrotta (Juventus)
Age: 29, Price: ?
Another star of Italy's World Cup campaign, Zambrotta is equally capable of performing on either wing in defence or attack. With his best years ahead of him he is unlikely to spend them in Serie B.
Possible destinations: Is keen to stay in Italy, but AC Milan are the only club who could afford him. Chelsea are waiting in the wings.
Lilian Thuram (Juventus)
Age: 34, Price: £2m
From a marauding full-back in his heyday, Thuram is more often than not used as a calm and collected centre-half these days. He showed at the World Cup he can still perform at the highest level - and would be a bargain.
Possible destinations: Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham, Monaco
Others:
Cafu (36) AC Milan and Brazil
Massimo Oddo (30) Lazio and Italy
Tomas Ujfalusi (28) Fiorentina and Czech Republic
MIDFIELDERS
Gennaro Gattuso (AC Milan)
Age: 28, Price: £10m
The defensive lynchpin of the Italian midfield. Strong in the tackle and a leader on and off the field, the one-time Rangers star has pledged to stick with Milan.
Possible destination: Agent insists Gattuso is happy at Milan, and they say their players are going nowhere.
Andrea Pirlo (AC Milan)
Age: 27, Price: £25m
The artist in the Italian side enjoyed a superb World Cup. A creator and scorer of goals, there will be no shortage of suitors although as Milan escaped relegation he may be persuaded to stay and his price tag is prohibitive.
Possible destinations: Arsenal
Kaka (AC Milan)
Age: 24, Price: £30m
One of the few Brazilians to emerge from the World Cup with some credit. The Milan playmaker and one-time Chelsea target pushed Ronaldinho to the sidelines to emerge as their key man.
Possible destinations: Real Madrid
Patrick Vieira (Juventus)
Age: 30, Price: ?
Answered questions about his fading engine with some driving displays at the heart of a France side who rolled back the years in Germany.
Possible destinations: Inter Milan, Manchester United, Arsenal, Roma, Real Madrid
Mauro Camoranesi (Juventus)
Age: 29, Price: ?
The Argentine-born winger is another of Italy's World Cup winners. A superb crosser of the ball, the only question mark over Camoranesi is his temperament - he was sent off against Arsenal last season
Possible destinations: Inter Milan, Liverpool
Others:
Alessandro del Piero (31) Juventus and Italy
Pavel Nedved (33) Juventus and Czech Republic
Emerson (30) Juventus and Brazil
STRIKERS
Luca Toni (Fiorentina)
Age: 29, Price: £15m
The first player for nearly 50 years to score 30 goals in Serie A took his time to get going at the World Cup, before two against Ukraine in the quarter-finals. At 29 this could be the big striker's last chance to move to one of the world's top clubs.
Possible destinations: Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Manchester United
David Trezeguet (Juventus)
Age: 28, Price: £4m
Trezeguet was a peripheral figure in France's run to the World Cup final, but he has always been a reliable goalscorer in Serie A
Possible destinations: Lyon, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Juventus)
Age: 24, Price: ?
Often fails to live up to his billing as one of the world's top strikers and the Sweden player was off-form and injured for the duration of the finals. But the 24-year-old's ability and goal record means there are plenty of admirers out there.
Possible destinations: Inter Milan, Liverpool
Others:
Alberto Gilardino (24) AC Milan and Italy
Filippo Inzaghi (32) AC Milan and Italy

Telegraph World Cup Result
This was the results from the telegraph game, I came in the 2000 places behind these guys!
TELEGRAPH FANTASY FOOTBALL WORLD CUP - ROUND UP
So that’s it. It’s done, finished, gone and over.
Matt Daykin, a 33 year-old licensing and betting manager regulating the National Lottery, won the first prize of £25,000. The Derby County supporter might not be Italian but he had a lot to smile about at the weekend. “It’s incredible,” he told me after comfortably winning by 25 points. “It’s the best fiver I’ve ever spent. I really thought I’d shot my chance after transferring in Rooney and Lampard for the quarter-final but thankfully, while everyone else seemed to be backing Brazil, I went for the French. It worked a treat.” Indeed it did. Matt went from 32nd to somewhere in the 100s after England’s exit but pulled it back magnificently.
“Initially it was the French players who I brought in who picked things up for me but I fancied the Italians to win right from the first match. Mama Mia, Mario, Icer Cream, bellisimmo etc…”
Finishing second – and winning £2,000 – was 33 year-old recruitment consultant, Chris Gilmour, a Middlesbrough fan. “All my transfers paid off and now I can’t wait to make some more in the new Premiership season,” he added. Londoner Tony Davies won £1,000 for finishing third.
The top performing Chairman, who also won a grand, was Sion Matthews from Fife (although he supports Oldham Athletic) while the leading
Super League was The Baer Hunt, run by John Hunt and Bruce Baer. They can now argue over who wins the £2,500 prize although I find the best way to settle such things is to head butt my rival as hard as I can in the chest.
Congratulations to all and don’t forget to look out for our new £100,000 domestic game starting this Saturday.
Of Course Here at WWC -FF I will be keeping up with all the news of this game and certainly doing the online game again.

Well Done Italy
Cannavaro was my player of the world cup and it seems fitting to show him holding the cup. The Italians gave us a great game against Germany, dodgy one against Australia and certainly knew how to take penalties in the final. Shame about ZZ but insults happen on the pitch every 15 seconds. I wish it had finished better for him but still well done the Italians.

Well Done Sean - Just
I finished 2nd but only 2 points behind Sean Hanna!
ZZ cost me dear with his sending off but well done to Sean and his mass Subs at the start stategy. It paid of in the end.
By the way What was going on with the voting of Zidane as player of the tournament and also Portugal as the best team to watch? The Germans should have got that.

Too Little Too Late
I'm at 3rd but only 1 point ahead of 4th and 4 points behind Andy Clarke
in 2nd place with his flying apes.
Sean Hanna still leads in our Fantasy football and is 33 points ahead.
Ronaldo getting man of the match really helped him.
I will put in 4 subs for the final. I dont care who wins but I've got
France in the sweepstake so come on France! I just hope I can stay in the top 3.

Dont Cry For Me Portugal
Here's a picture of the moment all fans have been waiting for.
Ronaldo tried to win a spot-kick last night by one of the most dramatic dives ever, but his theatrical dive under the slightest challenge from Willy Sagnol was correctly ignored by referee Jorge Larrionda.
He should have got booked and the other diving divas in last nights game. Glad they are out of it. Hopefully Rooney texted him after the game to try and cheer him up.

The Chase Is On
I'm still at 2nd, but only 1 point ahead of 3rd and 2 points ahead of 4th.
Sean Hanna still leads in our Fantasy football and is 44 points ahead and has now used all his subs. England going out has affected his team and all our plans for the final!
I have put in 3 frenchies tonight and the portugese keeper incase it goes to penalties.
Can we catch him? Well you will just have to keep on coming back to see!

COME ON FRANCE TONIGHT!
AT Last A Great Game
After seeing the German - Italy game last night each one of those sides would have beaten England easily.
It was nice to see a game with no cheating and both sets of players really going for it.
Maybe there is hope the world cup if more games were like last night.
COME ON FRANCE TONIGHT (I JUST WANT PORTUGAL TO LOSE!)

Gerrard and Lampard
I had some brilliant emails going on about the can Lampard and Gerrard play together debate
I'm posted below one of the best from Paul Bishop, take it away Paul:
Now getting on to Lampard and Gerrard. I have always given them the benefit of the doubt, but there is only so long you can go on beofre you have to say enough is enough. The best team does not have to be made up of the best players and that is a fact. Lampard scores the goals he does for Chelsea as he has Makalele behind him. Gerrard scores the goals he does for Liverpool because he has Alonso behind him. Without a shadow of a doubt now, this principle must apply to England if we're ever to achieve at International level.
I'm a Man United fan and for years have watched Roy Keane sit in midfield while Paul Scholes would rush into the box and hit the back of the net. Frank Lampard is a very good player, but Steven Gerrard is simply better. Let's face it, Sven did not have a clue about anything and Steve McClaren will be much much better, but does he have the grapefruits to make this decision??
I don't know about you, but watching Gerrard and Lampard during this World Cup was hard. They totally got drawn around the pitch and never once put their stamp on any game. Lampard had a shocker of a tournament and I can't beleive I'm saying that for a guy whose easily one of the best midfielders in the world. Both he and Gerrard's games are very similar thus cancel one another out. Gerrard must be the main man in midfield with either Carrick or Hargreaves as the holder, which would let Stevie G break forward and you'd see his Liverpool form at International level.
I think Paul sums it up brilliantly!

Uses for our England Flags
If you are starting to get over the weekends match, here is a link to an
article on the BBC about uses for the england flag now
Dont forget one of the best English character traits, the ability to laugh at ourselves!
Big match tonight going to make 4 subs and go for it!

The Years And The Tears
Like the rest of you England fans, I feel really down at the moment.
I really thought When Stevie G was going to take that penalty that we would be in the drivng seat, but it wasn't meant to be.
Owen Hargreaves was brilliant in the second half and deserved his man of the match award.
Dont know what to say about Rooney, apart from being in a stupid position which didn't help. I only hope I get the chance to see Ronaldo cry when the French beat Portugal!
A quick question for you all:
Can lampard and Gerrard play in the same team?
Lampard had the worst world cup I think was possible to have, shame because we all know he is better than that.
Feel Sorry for Beckham, no matter what you think of him, he gave everything when he wore that shirt.
Why are England so bad at penalties? Please add acomment or send me an email I need to know!
thanks
